Our Story

How we got here

Two people, many shared adventures… and a plan to gather everyone we love on a warm shore.

We met in Sri Lanka, and not long after, Asela moved to Australia. Since then, we’ve made a home together, travelled, and made many countless memories along the way.

It felt only right that Sri Lanka would be part of the next chapter too. Asela proposed there, and just over a year later, we’re heading back to where it all began to get married and celebrate with the people we love.

Getting There

Travel & Stay

Bentota sits on Sri Lanka's south-west coast, about two hours from Colombo. Come for the wedding, stay for the beaches.

Fly

Colombo (CMB)

Bandaranaike International is the closest airport. From there it's 2 hour scenic coastal drive down south to Bentota.

There are plenty of places nearby to stay, with options to suit a range of budgets and preferences. We’ve included a few of our recommendations in the Q&A section below to make planning your trip a little easier.

Getting Around

On the day

There is some parking available at the venue, but if you’re staying nearby, we highly recommend getting around by tuk-tuk. They’re easy to find, convenient and a fun way to get around.

Can I bring a plus-one?

We’d like to keep the guest list intimate for those closest to us. If a plus one has been reserved for you, it will be indicated on your invitation. Otherwise please reach out to us and we will do our best to accommodate!

Gifts

Please do not feel you need to bring a gift. Making the journey to celebrate with us is more than enough.

Places to stay

Nyne hotels - The Muse - Boutique luxury by the beach, a favourite of ours on our visits to bentota.
Club Villa - Next door to the wedding venue for the easiest trip home.
Cinnamon Bentota Beach - Resort style, with beach and lagoon access.

What's the weather like in January?

Warm and dry — the best season on the south coast. Expect sunshine in the high 20s°C.

Do I need a visa for Sri Lanka?

Most visitors need an ETA before arrival — it's quick to arrange online. Check your own country's requirements early, just in case.

When should I RSVP by?
